Our History
In 2016, God gave Don and Joyce Osman a vision to start a model Montessori school where the next generation of leaders in Sierra Leone will be raised. The school was started with 4 students. 3 were from the largest slum in Freetown. We hired 2 teachers, a head teacher and 1 janitor. Currently we have 147 students and a waiting list of 57. The Montessori Method of education has proven to be successful in teaching especially children from low income communities. At our school, we strive to provide a comprehensive educational program that addresses the emotional, intellectual, physical, spiritual and social development of the total child.
The school was blessed to have Mrs Gladys Pratt as the first Headteacher and under her capable leadership, supervision and guidance, the school has experienced a steady growth in its educational programs and campus development.

The American Montessori Leadership Academy provides a comprehensive educational program that addresses the emotional, intellectual, physical, spiritual and social development of the total child by affirming the uniqueness of each child in a nurturing, secure and academically excellent environment.
OUR EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY
The American Montessori Leadership Academy follows the Montessori method of teaching and learning. The Montessori method provides a structure in which children in a group setting can develop their own individuality through independent play and learn activities.
